Applications received before November 1, 2026, will be reviewed for consideration before the end of the semester. Relevant courses taken before applying for a certificate count toward certificate requirements.

Eligibility

The Global Studies Certificate is available to undergraduate students from all academic backgrounds across GHEA21, including students in formal international relations programs and in different fields of study.

Requirements

Students must complete five courses that focus on global affairs at any GHEA21 institution. At least two of these courses must be network courses a GHEA21 Online Course and/or Network Collaborative Course.

  • One introductory course on international relations, transnationalism, globalization, or global affairs;
  • One course that focuses on a global issue from the perspective of a country/region other than your own;
  • Three courses that focus on specific issue(s) as a transnational, international, or global phenomenon.
